Maybe you think of her movies like 'Charlie's Angels,' 'Full Throttle' (that one paid her $14 million) or the newest one, 'Fifty First Dates.' Because Drew started acting at age 5, she has made a lot of films.
Maybe you think of Drew's legendary acting family, including John, Ethel and Lionel Barrymore. But philanthropist? It's a new role for Drew Barrymore and one she's relishing.
Drew's on a mission to encourage other performers to support the ideals, vision and mandate of the United Nations -- that is, to look for global solutions to world problems. And for that commitment, she has been named a Friend of the UN.
So far, between 30 and 40 Hollywood types have signed on. Drew says it's not as easy to be a philanthropist as you might think because you have to really research the cause and know what you're supporting. "
